QUINCY RESIDENT TIFFANY CHRISTENSEN, RECIPIENT OF SCHOLARSHIP FROM ROBBINS & MYERS, PURSUING DEGREE IN EDUCATION AT URBANA UNIVERSITY
Tiffany Christensen, from Quincy, Ohio is a junior at Urbana University studying Middle Childhood Education. She is the recipient of a scholarship from Robbins & Myers Foundation through The Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges’ Ohio Scholars Program.
Tiffany found her calling to teach in her senior year at Riverside High School when she attended Teaching Professions Academy, a joint vocational school satellite course affiliated with Future Educators of America. “My teacher, Donna Jarvab,” Tiffany says, “was the best ever, and being her student helped me realize that I, too, had a gift for teaching.
Extremely appreciative of the financial assistance she receives from Robbins & Myers Tiffany said that her scholarship lifted a burden so that she can focus on her studies rather than how they will be paid for. “I am so grateful.” she states. “My scholarship donor has made such a valuable contribution to who I am going to become.”
As do all OFIC member colleges and universities, Urbana University encourages development of the whole individual, and students can take advantage of numerous extracurricular opportunities. In addition to spending time on her studies, Tiffany sings in the Urbana University choir and is also a member of the Chamber Choir, a smaller vocal group of select individuals. She also belongs to the Anime Club, whose members make a culture study of the unique ways that social and other issues are addressed by Japanese cartoons.
